  Are we pro-shunning or against it?

  just to continue my theme about religious freedom and how we approach criticizing the wts, i've also been thinking about 'shunning'.. i think shunning is the most unifying complaint that most ex-members of religious groups that practice it have in common.

  it is the layer that runs under every other complaint - whatever the reason for leaving it seems "... and i was shunned" can be added to it as the final rap on the charge sheet.. of course it seems like a no-brainer to many of us and we hardly ever stop to really think about it - shunning is bad, the watchtower believes in shunning therefore the watchtower is bad.

  they need to stop it.

  Isn't the real issue not that we don't agree or disagree with shunning per-se, but that we disagree with who should and shouldn't be shunned and why.

  Of course, this is the core of the issue. Many people should be shunned and for many reasons. Society shuns people in many ways. Probably the most extreme is incarceration in solitary confinement.

  What makes this whole scenario so interesting is that anyone can view, download, review again, AND as many times as they want. MS's, publishers [is that term still used?] brothers, sisters, children, your next door neighbor, Aunt Tillie, Uncle Bernie, the clerk at 7-11, every long haul trucker from here to El Salvador, every fisherman from Newfoundland to Alaska, every lumberjack from California to Brazil, every coal miner from Kentucky to China, etc. etc. etc.

  The amazing thing is that the only people that cannot download are elders, CO's, DO's, included. So the whole world can review this video and get every word straight EXCEPT the elders. At least they can never admit to it.
